Description
PROHIBITION OF FLUORIDATION OF PUBLIC WATER SYSTEMS. INITIATIVE STATUTE. Amends the Health and Safety Code to prohibit adding fluoride or fluorine-containing substances to public water systems. States that all laws that are to the contrary are repealed. Summary of estimate by Legislative Analyst and Director of Finance of fiscal impact on state and local governments: The measure would result in unknown dental care costs to the State, potentially ranging from the low millions of dollars annually in the first few years to about $15 million annually after five years. The measure would also result in unknown net costs or savings to local governments, potentially ranging from a net savings of roughly $1 million annually to a net cost of several million dollars annually.
