California citizens, after amending the state Constitution in 1911, began directly participating in the legislative process with the creation of the Initiative system. The following two collections are a near-complete record of citizen initiatives and propositions from 1911 to 2020. Work on this collection began in 1999 with the support of a federal LSTA grant.
