Description
PROHIBITION OF FLUORIDATION OF PUBLIC WATER SYSTEMS. INITIATIVE STATUTE. Amends the Health and Safety Code and the Public Resources Code to prohibit adding fluoride or fluorine-containing substances to public water systems. Also repeals all laws that are to the contrary. Summary of estimate by Legislative Analyst and Director of Finance of fiscal impact on state and local governments: The measure would result in unknown costs to the state, ranging from the low millions of dollars annually in the first few years, to about $15 million annually after five years. The measure would also result in unknown net costs or savings to local governments, potentially ranging from a net savings of roughly $1 million annually to a net cost of several million dollars annually.
