Description
ELECTIONS: CANDIDATE SPENDING LIMIT. INITIATIVE STATUTE. Limits campaign expenditures by a candidate in a primary election to the greater of the annual salary for the office sought or $1,000. Places the same limit on expenditures by a candidate in a general election. Summary of estimate by Legislative Analyst and Director of Finance of fiscal impact on state and local government: Because the measure would not add new reporting or enforcement requirements, this measure would probably not result in any additional costs to the state or local governments.
