Description
TICKET SELLING. INITIATIVE STATUTE. Requires purchase price to appear prominently on tickets to musical, sporting, theatre or other entertainment events. Prohibits sale at greater price except for service charge not to exceed 20 percent. Prohibits engaging in ticket selling business without county license. Requires license issuance upon payment of from $200 to $500 as determined by county board of supervisors. Requires ticket sellers to have permanent business address from which tickets be sold and that address and existence of service charge be included in advertisement or solicitation. Makes violation a misdemeanor punishable by fine, imprisonment, license revocation. Summary of estimate by Legislative Analyst and Director of Finance of fiscal impact on state and local governments: Would not result in substantial net change in local government finances.
