Description
SALARIES. CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL. CONSTITUTIONAL INITIATIVE. Requires State Personnel Board to: (1) determine maximum salary for each class of policeman or deputy sheriff in each city and county within state, (2) adjust salaries of uniformed members of Highway Patrol to at least the maximum rate paid policemen or deputy sheriffs within comparable classes, and (3) report annually to Governor on its determinations and adjustments. Requires Governor to provide in budget for full implementation of these determinations and adjustments. These budget provisions can be modified or stricken only by two-thirds vote of legislature voting solely on this issue. Statement of additional financing from state sources: If this amendment had been in effect during the preparation of the 1972-73 fiscal year budget, the estimated cost increase to the state would be in the approximate amount of Seventeen million five hundred and nineteen thousand dollars ($17,519,000).
