Description
Eliminates property tax exemptions based on property’s use for religious worship or other religious purposes, commencing on January 1, 2013. Summary of estimate by Legislative Analyst and Director of Finance of fiscal impact on state and local government: Annual local government revenue increase of roughly $225 million from property taxes levied on religious property. State General Fund savings in most years of roughly $100 million from increased local property tax revenues for school and community college districts.
